Question
I bought a mixer today at a garage sale, seems to be working fine but was wondering if we should be oiling the motor or whether any kind of manual is available?

Answer
This mixer is probably about 40 years old as Montgomery Ward has not made mixers for about that long.  If you will look around where the handle attaches to the body, there may be a small hole in the case.  If so, it is probably an oil hole.  Likewise, there may be a small hole at the other end of the case. Use a few drops of sewing machine oil in the two holes. I have not seen one of these mixers in years so I do not know if they put oil holes in them or not.  If there are no holes, the mixer will have to be taken apart to oil the bearings.
Truthfully, if there are no oil holes, I would just use it. If it starts to make funny noises, you may be able to take the top cover off and oil the end bearings.  Without seeing the mixer it is hard for me to guess.

Most of the old Montgomery Ward mixers were either made by Hamilton Beach or Sunbeam.  But I am sure there are no manuals anymore.
