Little details and things that may be totally insignificant for some people, but they mean a lot to me. for example: Spaceboy was written about/for Billy's younger brother, Jesse, who has a rare genetic disorder. Thats rather common SP knowledge, but it's an example. Also, I know most lyrics off by heart to most SP songs, and stuff like that. Ask me pretty much anything about SP. I will most likely have the answer!

Smashing Pumpkins - Groover/Zero album

Expert: Christina - 6/23/2006

Question
I would really love to find a recording of "The Groover", in which there was a clip of it on the Zero album, in the song Pistachio Medley.  I have found another version of this song, but it is not the same recording.  I have searched endlessly to find the version of the song which was recorded in Pistachio Medley, but I have not found any luck.  I would be so thankful to find this exact recording.  I've been a loyal SP fan since Gish came out, and I get the impression you are too :) Please let me know if you can help me. Thanx

Answer
Hi there,

I'm assuming this is the version you've found?

If not, check out that one, and ignore the rest of this message. but if this is the only studio version you have, read on.

As far as I know, the majority of the recordings included in Pastichio Medley were never released to fans. There were tonnes of rare, unreleased demos and random tapes that the fans got a hold of in and around the year 2000, but I don't believe this particular stuff has ever seen the light of day. There was talk, with the regrouping of the Pumpkins, of releasing some of the old tapes that still haven't surfaced, but I can't remember if Billy had mentioned it or if it was just fan speculation. and even if it did happen, who knows what the tapes would include. I believe the Groover, or a similar sounding guitar riff, was played live a lot in the random jams during the Mellon Collie tour - but I may be confusing it with another song.
