I can answer questions regarding Ball Pythons and other python and boa species. I can reply to questions about, their environment, health, deceases, breeding, and housing. I can also answer questions about other pythons and boas, but my expertise is in the Python Regius or Royal Python, better known as the Ball Python.

Experience
My experience is as a snake owner and breeder. I have owned reptiles for nearly twelve years. My experience is more on Ball Pythons, but can usually answer questions about other reptile species.

Organizations
The Maine Herpetology Society

Education/Credentials
I believe that my at home experience as well as the hours of research I have done about the Ball Python is training enough. As mentioned before I can answer questions about Pythons and Boas, but my expertise lies within the Ball Pythons.

Question
hi,my snake got lost about 2 weeks ago,we found her in our stove, she wasnt in great condition but we got her sum reptile wound healing aid and it looks lik its kinda working i mean it still bad and its been lik a week or so and she looks good i mean she still hasnt eaten but im thinking that its because of her wounds cause she always strikes when i try to feed her but she wont wrap it up and today i wanted to try to feed her so i reached and touched her and she hissed at me twice so i left her alone, could it be that shes hungry thats why shes hissing at me or because her wounds hurt

Answer
Hi Michelle,

Are these wounds from burns due to the oven? Even if not I am sure she is hissing because of the pain it causes her when touched. If your an outside the tank feeder you may consider trying to feed her in the tank. After she has healed completely, you can feed her outside the tank. When you said she does not wrap around the prey it is probably because of the pain she is in. Snakes can go for months without eating. The best thing to do is wait to feed her till she is healed, this will help ensure her wounds will not get worse due to infections caused by the prey items.

I hope she does great. A good way to prevent her from getting to upset when you are applying the medicine is to place her into a pillow sack. Snakes feel a sense of ease in the sack.

Hope this helps,
Eric Rovegno
