sleds.
Experience I recently owned a 1978 Arctic Cat Lynx that I repainted and restored, a 1973 Ski Doo Olympique 440, a 1986 Arctic Cat El Tigre 6000, a 1990 Ski-Doo Formula Mach 1 and a 1973 Yamaha SL338C. I currently own a 1990 Arctic Cat Jag AFS Deluxe 440. I have rebuilt the carbs and fuel pumps, replaced tracks, slides, suspension, repaired chain cases, general body work, fixed the electrical on the sleds, and do just about anything possible with a sled. I used to work at a professional auto shop. I have accses to manuals and other helpful information, including good places for cheap parts. I am also a state park certified snowmobile operator

Answer Hello Charlie,
How does the sled run other than suddenly dying? If it runs perfectly fine otherwise, I would suspect an ignition system problem. If it runs poorly all the time I would suspect a fuel and or electraical problem. Here I where I would start. Make sure you are using the correct fuel/oil ratio, it is 40:1 on all 70's Polaris machines. next, be sure to use the correct spark plugs, which you can decide from here http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/apps/snowmobiles/step2.asp I would recomend going one heat range higher than what NGK recomends, for exmaple if they recomend BR9ES, go with BR8ES. Also, you may want to dissasemble the carburetor to make sure it is clean. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any othe questions. Good luck with the sled! --Arcticatman
