Question i am a sophomore in college, 20 years old and have been playing for almost 15 years. My school just finished installing artificial turf on our field and with little experience playing on turf i was wondering what you thought might be the best type of shoe to use?
Answer My freshman year of college was the first time I ever needed to wear turf shoes and I bought a pair of Adidas Mundial turfs and I'm still using the same pair 6 years later. There's a reason that Adidas continues to make them and it's because they're great shoes.
One approach that you could take is to buy the turf version of whatever cleat you are currently using. As you probably know, most brands make a particular shoe style in both a firm ground and a turf. When a player likes a shoe they tend to stay with that particular style, so why not get the same shoe in a turf version?
It's always difficult recommending shoes because players' feet vary, so what might work for one person might not fit well on another. However, I hope that my suggestions are useful. Enjoy the new turf and good luck with your season!
