Question Do you know how many youth soccer clubs in the USA have over 3000 players? i am doing some research into youth football across the world. thanks
Answer US Youth Soccer registers more than 3.2 million players annually, ages 5 to 19. Unfortunately it would be very difficult to determine how many clubs have over 3000 players since there are numerous clubs around the country. However, if by soccer clubs you are singling out teams that play at the Club Soccer level and travel to different National tournaments and play for the State and National Cups, then I would think that none would have over 3000 players. In this case, if you included all possible age ranges (starting with U-5 and going to U-21 there are 17 age groups and most Club soccer programs tend to start around U-11 or so) and you calculated each team as having 25 players (which most do not...my U-13 team only has 17 players) you would still only have 425 players for that club. And while some age groups are permitted to have more than one team, there would be no way for a club to have over 3000 players. If you are factoring in soccer clubs that are run by a township or the like, then there would certainly be a chance that they could have over 3000 players depending on how many teams they field (there would still only be a max of 17 age groups but they could have several large sized teams for each age group as well as travel teams in addition to their regular township teams).
