QUESTION: The graduation is June 6, the party is June 8th. I should send the invitations to the graduation party separate from the announcement? The party announcement will arrive first is that right?
Answer Dear Mary,
This is a commonly confused pair of terms,so I am happy to help.
An invitation asks someone to appear at a certain place at a specific
time for an event. The person getting the invitation needs to decide
if they wish to accept or decline.
An announcement is merely news. News of an event that has already
happened. It's information. No action is required on the part of the
person who receives the announcement.
