Expert: Cynthia Lett Date: 7/11/2008 Subject: Thank You Cards
Question Hi,
I was recently married and am now working on our Thank You cards. I've been learning the Do's and Don'ts of Thank you cards. And I think I have most of it figured out. But so far, we've received two gifts that are the same. They are gift certificates for retaurants. They are both $100 each. A very generous gift. A unique one as well. I've been asking people (who have been married and done thank you cards), how to write a thank you card for these gifts. We haven't used the gift certificates yet. They require us to travel to our nearest city and we haven't had a chance. But I can't wait to use them and then send the thank you cards out. I need to send my thank you cards out right away. Can't take the chance of waiting that long. So how do I go about writing a thank you card for this. I know I need to thank them for their generous gift certificate. But then what do I say?
Thank you for your help.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Chelse
Answer Dear Chelse:
Congratulations on your recent nuptials. A thank you card is really quite easy. Only three sentences are necessary. For your request a thank you could be written like this:
Dear Gracious Giver,
Your most generous gift of dinner at the restaurant is so appreciated. Husband and I are looking forward to a special evening together at which we will toast to you our friends. We hope that we will see you again before long.
Fondly,
Chelse and Husband
Keep in mind that while gift certificates are the same as money, what the giver has actually given you is the chance for an experience on them.
I hope this helps.
All the best,
Cynthia Lett
