Expert: Cynthia Lett - 11/13/2009
Question My husband and I have been invited to a Debutant Ball, My husband is wearing a tukedo, what is the correct drees code for me, including dress, hair, shoes and jewelry.
Thanks
Anna
Answer Dear Anna:
It sounds as if the invitation said formal and your husband is right to wear a tuxedo. You need to wear a to the floor ball gown, not strapless. Your hair should be worn in a simple style that you would feel comfortable wearing at a formal occasion. Your shoes should match your dress and since you will be dancing, they need to not hurt your feet if you stand in them for a while. Your jewelry should be simple and elegant - remember that the event is to show off the debutantes, not you. Pearls are the nicest choice if you have them. Don't wear white or beaded or sequins.
I hope you have a wonderful time.
