Question
How do I address my wedding invitation to my godfathers widow?

Is it also proper to send her a sympathy card?

Answer
Dear Joy,
She is Mrs Milford F Renquist until the days she dies or until she remarries. It is not
inappropriate to write Jane A Renquist on the address line, but it is never correct to use
'Mrs.' in front of a woman's given name.

Yes,send her a note telling her what your godfather meant to you. If you weren't  particularly
close, you may still say something nice about his friendship with your parents or his willingness to serve as your godfather.

Best regards,
Amanda Gamble
