Social Etiquette and Good Manners - Priviate Invite Etiquette

Expert: Amanda Gamble - 6/23/2009

Question
I am having a 50th birthday party and can only invite a limited amount of guest. While I have many friends and don't want anyone to feel slighted.  How would I word the save the date to those who I plan to invite?

Answer
Dear Sabrina,
People are going to hear about the party. Even if you swear every
last  one of the invited guests to secrecy, word is going to get out. The trick is to not explain or (overly) apologize for your guest list.
None of us can have every person we know and like at any one single
party.

                                                  Best regards,
                                                    Amanda Gamble
