Social Etiquette and Good Manners - Graduation card w/money for daughter's boyfriend

Expert: Amanda Gamble - 7/3/2009

Question
Is it appropriate for my husband and I to give our daughter's boyfriend more than a card for high school graduation?  She and he have been dating for approx. 9 months and are NOT discussing engagement or marriage.

He's a great fellow and has done a lot for her.  What do you think?

Answer
Dear Jan,
If you and your husband wish to give him a gift (in any form) as a
token of your esteem for him, please do. As you are not his peers, but
mature adults, giving him something to help him out as he starts a
new phase in his life is fine.
                             Best regards,
                                Amanda Gamble
