Social Etiquette and Good Manners/Baby shower

Hi! I am invited to a close friends daughters baby shower. Our families are close and the soon to be mom even babysat my now 23 year old daughter. My question to you is this... I was invited but my daughter was not. Is it ok to ask if my daughter can also attend?
Thanks so much for your adivce!

Dear Diane:

Thank you for your question.  As much as you think the mom-to-be should have invited  your daughter to the shower, the decision about whom to invite is totally up to the host, not the guests.  It would be rude to ask if your daughter can attend.  There may be a number of guests restriction due to size of venue or cost per person and not everyone could be invited.  That often is the case.  Even if it isn't, it still remains the decision of the host.
