Social Etiquette and Good Manners/60th birthday

Question
In this modern age, is it appropriate to invite guests to a 60th via sms, Facebook and/or email?
TIA

Answer
Thank you for your inquiry.

You may use social media to invite guests to a birthday party, but please remember that you have no guarantee that all of the targeted guests are connected to these sites, and nor do you have a guarantee that your invitation will not be seen and/or shared with others who are not on your guest list. Email is a bit more controlled in that you direct your message to a specific individual, but is everyone on your guest list a regular email user?  And there's nothing wrong with texting or telephoning an invitation, if those methods are a better fit for certain guests. In other words, you may need to employ a combination of methods to invite your guests, depending on how tech savvy they are.

Best wishes for a lovely party!
