Question
Never had umps call slap hitters out for bunting until this year. What's the arguement with umps calling slap hitters out on a 2 strike foul.Bat crossed the plain?Breaking of the wrists?

Answer
Chris,

This is a judgement call.  I look for the swing vs holding the bat in the path of the ball.  Did the batter swing the bat into the ball or did they hold the bat in the path of the ball?  I am really not paying attention to the batters wrist.  When you say breaking the plain, I am not sure what you mean.

I just look to see if the batter swings at the ball.  Any doubt on whether it was a swing or a bunt, means it was a swing.
