Softball/batting out of order

Question
Suppose the batting order is Mary, Jane, then Debbie. No one is on base. Jane bats and singles to first.  Mary gets up to bat. Before the first pitch, defense appeals batting out of order.  (Mary was supposed to bat before Jane.)
I believe Mary is out.  But what happens to Jane? And who is the next batter?

Answer
Cynthia

I your situation Mary is called out for failure to bat and Jane is removed from first base.  Because Jane made it on base, she is the next batter.

If Jane had been put out because of her turn at bat, Mary would still be out for not batting, Jane would be out because she made an out and Debbie would be up.
