Softball/asa bat handle

Question
I play asa softball and have a new bat from approved list.  I added padding to the bottom of the handle and retapped it so it is smooth to the nub of the handle. I did it so it is soft on the bottom where I hold my hand. Is this legal?

Answer
Hi Robert,

I would think not.  You can only have 2 layers of tape on the handle

A “flare” or “cone” grip attached to the bat handle, inserting material inside the bat, applying excessive tape (more than two layers) to the bat grip or painting a bat other than at the top or bottom for identification purposes are examples of altering a bat
