Question I asked my daughters pitching coach what is the record speed for fastpitch softball, he told me 72 but he wasn't positive. do you know?
Answer Tom,
Unfortunately your asking me trivia, which my wife says I'm awful with. I did do some digging, but couldn't find a definite answer.
There was a pitcher in the 1996 Olympics (first year fastpitch softball was recognized as a sport in the Olympics) who was clocked at 118 k/ph. (that's 73.3 mph)That is the fastest speed I could find verified for a female pitcher. There are reports of male fastpitch softball players achieving 104 mph. Eddie Feigner of the famous traveling "King and his Court" team was one such person.
Baseball has Matt Anderson and Mark Wohlers who have both been clocked at 103 MPH. Below is a link that might interest you on the subject of fastpitch softball if your interested in speeds. I hope this was helpful.
