Soil Issues - Grading

Expert: James L. Crowder - 10/12/2009

Question
I'm wanting to buy a home that reported

"The driveway has settled 2 inches away from the house; there are grading issues in the rear of the property; Fascia needs repair over garage; front steps are dropping away from property."

The house passed inspection but I'm concerned with how to correct the problem

How do I correct this issue, and is it serious?

Answer
Hi Nicole, There's not much I can tell you without a visual inspection.  I'd want to talk to the home inspector that passed it or get a second opinion.  If the drive and steps are settling, I'd want to be sure there are no foundation issues.  Your realtor should help you with this.  Jim
