Question
I live in northern california.I have what I think is vinca minor growing on a slope doing great in the shade. Unfortunately the majority of the slope is in the sun (faces north).  What can I plant that looks similar but is more hardy and will accomodate ugly clay soil?

Answer
Hi Linda, Euonymus coloratus looks similar and likes the sun. It can be semi-evergreen in some climates. Although it looks different, my choice would be Sedum. There are a number of low growing varieties that I think are more attractive than Euonymus.  Jim
