Spanish Language - The Word 'Got''

Expert: Adrian Flores - 11/11/2008

Question
Hello Adrian,
In the Spanish spoken in America, how would I say:
"I got to watch Mr. Flores on TV last night."
I am having a challenge finding the word got, or how it is used/not used.
Thanks,
Pamela

Answer
Hi Pamela:

Sorry for the quick answer. I am between flights.

The same phrase would have to be expressed differently, depending on:

If you wanted to see it and did it:

Tenia que ver al Sr. Flores en la television anoche.

If you found Mr. Flores on tv last night, you would say:

Anoche, alcance a ver al Sr. Flores en la television.

Translation is not exact, but these would be the right phrases for it.

I hope it helps you. Feel free to ask again if you need more explanations

Saludos
