Mr Troelstrup,

you are not exactly right when you say Latin America uses "tarea"

I am from the South of South America and all the region.. Argentina, Uruguay, etc uses the workd "deberes"

I only hear the word tarea being used when I moved to California (that doesn't mean I had never heard of it). Decimos...."estoy atareada " por decir "estoy ocupada" etc
