I've just read on your website that you work on a neuroprotective effects of the ketogenic diet, is that right? Any good news from your research? Thank you very much,
Dennis
Answer Dennis,
I am doing research on ketogenic diet since 2002. However, now that there are new data about neuroptotective effects of energy substrates, I need to put together a popular article about these results. Generally, it became more clear how the ketogenic diet works, but it's still all too technical. It also became clear that not only ketone bodies but also other brain fuels (lactate, pyruvate) work well to protect brain cells from many kinds of damages and at least two of the so called neurodegenerative diseases - epilepsy and Alzheimer's.
