Special Diets - Stubborn weight/slow metabolism?

Question
Hello,

I'm a 33-year-old man, I weigh 125kg and am 186cm. My body type is endo-mesomorph. My body composition is muscular but with ~25-30% bodyfat.

In the past year I've been tracking my caloric intake and it averages about 2300kcal a day, less than 10kcal/lb of mass (which I've read is very low). My exercise for the week is as follows: 40 minutes of brisk walking per day, 1-hour weights 5/week, 3-5x30-minute bike rides/week (I benchpress 335lbs to give you an idea of musculature).

Even with all that exercise, I can't really lose weight. I was a fat child but I've always consumed less than others around me. I don't live a gluttonous lifestyle and I get full easily. Overeating doesn't feel like the problem and I don't eat starches/carbs at dinner.

I don't have a low body temperature or many things that would suggest hypothyroidism (except for the extra weight and possibly some form of insulin resistance). I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help you can give me would be very appreciated. Thank you very much.

Matt

Answer
Hi Matt,
Your calorie intake and activity sound fine.  How many times a day do you eat?  I would recommend a minimum of six times.  Don't eat more, just break up your meals into smaller bits which gives the body more time to digest and speeds metabolism.  Also, I would recommend to not eat past 8 or 9 pm (or 3 hours prior to bedtime).
Best of luck, please ask a follow up question if required,
Lea
