Special Diets - Atkins Induction Stage

Expert: Melissa Anderson - 12/13/2007

Question
I have just finished a week on the induction but I don't eat eggs and pork so its been very difficult for me.  Can I have a cup of cooked quaker oats in the mornings instead of the eggs and bacon

Answer
Sandra,
A cup of unsweetened quaker oats has about 50 net carbs. You tell me!
Instead, how about a piece of low carb toast (you'll have to read labels in the grocery store but there are several brands with 5-6 net carbs per slice) with butter and a half cup of cottage cheese (3-4 net carbs). You can also look for turkey bacon.
Merry Christmas!
Melissa
