Question Just have a question about my son who turned two in July. With almost every word, he says it like he is asking a question. It's hard to explain in writing, but his intonation rises at the end of everything. So instead of "blue car" its "blue? car?". Question mark meaning a rise in intonation. Is this normal or should I be concerned? Thanks!
Answer Is is possible he is copying you or others that are speaking to him? I think we have a tendency to do this when we are talking to little ones. Watch your intonation and see if you notice it.
He could just be requesting clarification from you as he might not be sure if what he is saying is right. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about at this point, but I would monitor it. As he becomes more confident, I would think it would fall away.
Be sure you start changing your intonation by going down at the end and see if he will imitate it.
Is everything else on track for him (milestones)?
