The Spice Girls "split up" (there's never been an official announcement) because all the members decided it was time to move on and pursue their solo careers, as well as starting a family (both Victoria and Melanie B got married and had children (Victoria, 3 and MelB, 1)).
Watch out for Live 8, on July 2nd. The girls might reform as a 5 piece and perform some of their hits, and next year the're supossed to be releasing a greatest-hits album
