AboutLeslie Hartman Expertise In 1995, a car wreck left me with a c7 spinal cord injury. I am female (which I note as it is fairly unusual with SCI), age 33. I have a working knowledge of physiology and a degree in Rehab and Psychology, and I can answer questions concerning adaptive equipment, the mental and emotional states/changes, physical changes, travelling (via car or airplane) and obstacles you might encounter at home or in the world. I can also tell you, based on past experience, several things NOT to do...

Question I was in a car accident 13yrs ago, I hit the windsheild at 45mph, I recieved 27 stiches to the right eyelid and forehead. My father broke his neck c7 and c2. When i got to the hospital, they did not x-ray, mri,or cat scan me, i went straight to being stiched up. Now i have had a cat scan and I have a broken C1. Isn't it standard practice to preform a cat scan on persons with head injuries? Everyone I have spoke to so far said YES.
Answer hi chris-
yes, i'd think it would have been prudent to do an mri or ct scan. Although injury should, i think, have healed in those 13 yrs... a doctor should be able to tell if the break is around that old.
And i suppose any suffering in the interim can determine how upset you can get with those doctors from back then...
