Question i am in possesion of what appears to be a very old card of jimmy collins (boston red sox), the card is about 2" x 1" and is just a head pic. on a gold backround and says all-time greats on top, on back bottom it has "t.c.g printed in u.s.a." but no date, with only a description of his career date of birth, home and, #23, 3b Boston Red sox when was this card printed? is it a origanall or simply a reprint? again appears very old!
Answer Aloha Matt,
Sorry about the delay in answering your fine question. I have just returned from a business trip.
From your description, I have determined that your Jimmy Collins card is from the 1960 Fleer "Baseball Greats" collection. It has a Book Value (BV) of $12.00. Understand that the Sale Value (SV) is 40-50% of the BV.
I believe it is not a replication. If it was a replication, it would have the t.c.g (topps chewing gum) annotation but would also include the year the card(s) were replicated.
