Question I see by reading the other questions you have answered that gymnasts make GREAT divers. My daughter is 13 and a current competitive gymnast. She has a potentially career limiting elbow injury (Osteochondritis Dissecans). SO we are considering diving for her. Am I to believe that Federal Way is my closest option for a team for her to train with? We live in Woodinville, WA. She is used to working out for 16-20 hours a week, and we would consider trampoline workouts also to complement her activity level. Can you recommend any trampoline teams close by?
Answer Laurie-
Yes, the diving team in Federal Way, Pacific NW Diving Club, is really the only USA Diving Club team in the whole state of Washington. This is because the King County Aquatic Center is the only pool with all the competitive heights a team needs to have a national level program. All the other pools in King/Snohomish Counties only have a low (1 meter) board.
When she becomes a high school student, she can join the Woodinville H.S. girls diving team if that is the school she will be attending. They dive from the 3rd Monday in August to the 2nd Saturday in November.Since the Northshore pool in Bothell (3 high schools used this pool for diving)closed, Juanita H.S. in Kirkland is the only high school left on the eastside with diving boards. This is where Bothell, Woodinville, Inglemoor, Lake Washington and Juanita high school divers all train and compete their home meets.
To find a trampoline team, go to the website for the Washington Association of Tumbling and Trampoline: www.tntwa.com. Click on clubs and a list of teams will come up. Looks like there are some near you.
Good luck in your search.
