Springboard and Platform Diving/diving in raleigh area

Dear Tom,
We are moving to Raleigh area this summer from Blacksburg Virginia. My son is currently diving with Ron at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. He enjoy is very much and would like to continue a team once we move to Raleigh. We have not secured a house yet or a school...and now I'm thinking that I should also see where a good aquatics center may be and a good coach! Ron has been excellent and we are sad to leave him. Do you have any good suggestions for a similar team? our son is 13 and has been diving for about 6 months. He definitely want to make this a priority sport over any of the others he currently does (soccer/swimming/tennis). Before I look for housing I was wondering if you could point us in the right direction for a good dive program year round. Raleigh is a big area, trying not to get overwhelmed and doing as much homework as I can! Thanks so much.

Ron and I have been good friends for many years and we used to coach together in Portland about 12 years ago. Just ask him about diving in the new area you are moving to and he will tell you about the program run by the college coaches from UNC and Duke (they are husband and wife). There might also be an age group program run by the coach from N.C. State but I am not sure. Ron will probably know who the coach is.

In the mean time, go to www.usadiving.org. Click on Join USA Diving and then Find A Club. Enter NC and a list of teams will come up. Look for The American School for Diving for contact info. Make sure you mention to the coaches that your son dived for Ron and I am sure you will get a response.

Good luck in your search.
