Question I remember my father pulling dirt away from green onions, was this to grow larger ones? I would like to grow the big ones like we buy at the grocery. Please tell me if I'm on the right track. Thank you
Answer Sue:
Don't take the dirt away from around your green onions.
You DO need to make sure they are planted about 4" apart. If they are too close together they cannot bulb and you will be very disappointed.
We grow 4 rows in level, raised, ridged beds that are 12" wide in the planting area, and at harvest time our beds are almost solid onions.
