Question I've had a pink camellia in a container for ovr 7 years in SC. It continues to bloom every year and is beautiful. I kept it in the shade. I have moved to NC and have all sun in my garden. Should I keep it in the container in the shade or take a chance in the sun? How long can I keep it in a container (yrs.)? It's about 4 ft. high.and 2 ft. wide. When is the best time to put it into a bigger pot if that's my alternative?

Some varieties of camellia prefer some shade, but most need at least some direct sunlight, or the flowering suffers.
Our experience is that most flower varieties will do better in sun than given credit for if they are watered regularly and given some food occasionally.
Also, large plants can flower profusely for many years in a 25 liter (6.5 gallon) or larger pot if properly fed and watered.
If it needs a larger container move it in the winter, when it's dormant.
