Question Baldwinsville (near Syracuse) NY
I have an ant problem in my intensive, raised vegetable bed. The ants are the little black type and they are eating my crops and eating the bees! I don't want to use chemicals - is there anything I can do? Thank you.
Answer The only organic product I have found to be effective on ants is diatomaceous earth. Ants will crawl over it and literally dehydrate within hours due to the abrasive quality of the diatoms. It is 100% organic, meaning it is totally non-toxic to humans and pets.
Attached is a link to a website that gives an excellent description of the product. You can purchase this at most garden centers or on-line through companies such as Earthworks or Planet Natural.
