Question
When playing on a court with a gallery opening at the top of the back wall, if a player returns the ball hitting the front wall and the ball bounces off and travels through the gallery opening in the back wall, how is it played?  Loss of serve or point, re do?

Answer
Hi Tim - I apologize - I am the squash expert.  Rob Chabot is the racquetball expert on this website.
Here's what I found at http://www.usra.org/Rulebook.aspx
Rule 3.13 RALLIES
(c) Failure to Return. Any of the following constitutes a failure to make a legal return during a rally....
3. The ball is hit such that it goes into the gallery or wall opening or else hits a surface above the normal playing area of the court that has been declared as out-of-play [See Rule 2.1(a)].

(In other words, the return in your scenario is out: loss of point.)

Best,
Hunt
