Question
I need to replace the hooks on the side of an older window ornament.  what type of metal can I use?  I would like to put on a washer type so a chain can be hooked to it so it can be hung in a window.pleas advise....Ruth

Answer
Hi Ruth,

You need to use copper or brass for it to form a solid solder joint. There's a tutorial on this page http://www.freepatternsforstainedglass.com/finish-the-edges.html about making jump rings/hanging loops. You'll find it about 1/2 way down the page. It should help you make the rings and attach them. Once they are soldered to the ornament, you will be able to attach chains to them. If you aren't familiar with soldering on a stained glass piece, you might be better off taking it to your local stained glass shop and have them attach the rings.
