I have had the same problem and found coating the marker after application with petroleum jelly or chapstick works pretty good for keeping the water from washing off the marking

Expertise

I can answer questions about the history of stained glass, how it is made, technical questions concerning glass, lead, painting, firing, removal and installation, restoration, repair, dating, cutting, glazing, foiling and any craftwork question. I can also answer questions about specific stained glass artists, acid etching, beveling, sandblasting, and setting up a studio.

Experience

I have 30 years experience in stained glass. I am a past president of the Stained Glass Association of America. I have restored windows by Tiffany, LaFarge, Connick, etc., as well as ancient stained glass as early as the 14th century. I have created numerous windows for churches in both modern and traditional styles.
