Question
Hello,

Can you recommend a solution for removing paint stains from carpet? Thanks!

Answer
Sarah,

If the paint is dry, you need to use a solvent to remove it.  Acetone, Paint thinner etc.  You have to be very careful.  Solvents will soften up the paint, but if you use too much they can damage the backing of the carpet.  The best way to do it is to put some acetone in a spray bottle.  Keep in mind the acetone will ruin the sprayer after a few uses, but it should work long enough.  Mist some of the acetone over the paint, and agitate the spot with something hard, but not sharp.  Like the backside of a butter knife.  Leave it sit for about 3 or 4 minutes.  Try to break apart the spot with the butter knife.  If you have a wet vac, vacuum the pieces of paint and the solvent.  If you don't have a wet vac, remove the pieces of paint if you can, and put a rag over the spot and then step on it to get rid of the solvent that's in the carpet.
Let me know if you have any further questions,

Good Luck,
Todd
