Stains, Mopping, Wiping, Ironing, Cleaning - auto carpet stain

Question
Bern...I left a cap loose on a jug of juice in my son's GM truck. I think it was "Hawaiian Fruit juice" (red). My son tried "spray and wash" on the removable carpet mat and that did very little and he did nothing to the carpet it'self. I have a Bissel carpet cleaner with hand attachment and the Bissel cleaner. What is the best way to go on this type of stain which probably has red food dye in it? Thanks...

Answer
This is one that may be better left to a professional.  HOWEVER, if you feel daring and want to try, use a mixture of half ammonia  and half alcohol.  Spray it on the stain and then place a wet white towel over it.  Then with a pre-heated iron on cotton setting heat the towel for around 60 seconds.  If NONE of the stain absorbs into the towel the this likely will not work for you.  If SOME absorbs then keep at it.  Eventually it will all come out.  TAKE CARE that the towel doesn't dry out and that you keep the carpet wet and do not scorch it and be aware the steam from this can take your breath away.  After removal rinse with water, drying it as much as possible and facilitate drying with a fan.

A professional will have better chemistry than you can buy and years of experience at doing this.  I got one of my best letter of recommendation from a lady whose husband and "ruined" their new Lexus with a red colored drink.

Good luck
