Stains, Mopping, Wiping, Ironing, Cleaning - gum

Expert: Todd Malin - 9/24/2009

Question
I left some gum in a pocket of my 100% cotton shirt, and washed the shirt.  The shirt is redish in color.  How do I get rid of the gum, and remove the stain?  I removed as much of the gum as I could, by just pulling it out, but now I need help.

Answer
Steve,

The best way to remove gum is to freeze it.  Since it's cotton, you can put the shirt in the freezer and let the gum freeze.  Then take something to break it up, like a butter knife.  If you can get all the gum off, the washing machine should be able to remove the stain.
