Subject: First Day of Issue 1943

Question
Terry, our 1943 First Day of Issue covers have titles such as "Let Freedom Ring for All the World," "Give Them the Tools to Finish the Job," and "On to Victory for Liberty."  Please advise what these would be valued if sold, and your expectation of how much, if any, their value would increse.  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hello Ellen,
Thanks for your question.
A lot of first day covers are designed with home drawn artwork or sayings. It adds little, if any, to the monetary value.
However, if you collect first day covers, it is a desired item since it is a variation for that particular stamp.
Most of the covers from the 1940's retail for $1.00 to $1.25 each if purchased at a stamp dealer.
Selling to a dealer would net you anywhere from 20% to 30% of that value depending on condition and demand.
Thanks again for your question and let me know if I can be of any more help.
Terry
P.S. Please remember to rate my reply to your question. Appreciate it.
