Experience
I've been selling stamps on the internet since early 1996. I maintain a stamp web page that concentrates on mint US stamps issued generally between 1890 and 2004. I'm an active seller on ebay.com since 1996, under the user id "mleon". I have a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Nevada at Las Vegas, 1984. Stamps (Philately) - Golden Replicas of US stamps

Expert: Mark Leon - 11/6/2009

Question
Recently my grandmother died and she has been collecting the
Golden Replicas of United States Stamps. The first stamp she
received was a 1983 and the last stamp she received was in 2000.
Are these stamps worth anything. She was under the impression
they went up in value every year.

Answer
Paulette,

Gold replicas of stamps were not issued by the post office, but rather by private companies seeking to profit from the hobby of stamp collecting.  They are not catalogued and their value is speculative in nature.  I've seen these replica covers sell for $1 to $5 each on ebay.com.
