Question
R306A
R306A
I HAVE A STAMP THAT APPEARS TO BE A R306A (SEE ATTACHED SCAN) WITHOUT A SERIES # ON IT AND A CANCELLATION THAT PARTIALLY READS "DALLAS 1???, AUG 29 (PROBABLY 1933), COMPANY.

IS THIS A GENUINE $50.00 GUTHRIE AND WHAT IS THE DALLAS COMPANY STAMP FOR. ALSO ANY IDEA OF VALUE IF LEGIT?

YOUR HELP WOULD CERTAINLY BE APPRECIATED.

Answer
Lars,

Your stamp is actually Scott number R680, the 1954 issue without date overprint.  A fault-free example in used condition has a current catalog value of $29.  The horizontal crease on your example unfortunately reduces the value by at least half.  I don't recognize the company named in the cancellation, but US revenue dealer Richard Friedberg may know this company and can give you additional information.  Richard can be found online at www.friedbergstamps.com.
