Question
I have come across 2 stamps that have not been cancelled but have been glued to a deed.  There are not any dates or markings on them other then at the top is Documentary then under the picture is L J Gage then United States, Internal Revenue, 220, Two Dollars and Twenty Cents.  I also have another one that is the .55 cent stamp. I would love to have more information on these if you can find any.
Thanks,
Michelle

Answer
Michelle,

It reads like the stamps lack any black date overprint, which would identify them as 1954 issue revenues, specifically Scott numbers R671 and R665 respectively.  Fault-free, eye-appealing examples of each on a document are valued at $3.75 and $1.25.
