Stamps (Philately)/newspaper and periodicals postage

I have a U.S. Postage 5 cent NEWSPAPER AND PERIODICALS . 2" by 4" . Looks like a big stamp. There is one on ebay but mine has perforations. Can you help with information on this 1863 5 cent postage? Thank you, Robert Green

You are describing a 19th century large format newspaper issue.  There were four different versions of the 5 denomination issued between 1865 and 1881: PR1, PR4, PR5 and PR8.  Fault-free, eye-appealing examples of each range in value between $225 and $750.  It takes an experienced philatelist to detect the differences between the issues, and to detect a forgery.  The large format newspaper stamps are very often faked, and with the exception of proofs, all of them were perforated.
