Stamps (Philately)/stuck mint stamps

Dear Mark:

I was impressed with your years of experience and good ratings on the experts web page.  I have discovered stamp collecting and am lovingly annotating and compiling my late Grandfather's collection from Chicago.

I have run across some mint stamps that look like they might be valuable but are STUCK together.  Not at all points, but at about 3 key areas that would damage the stamp if forced separation were to occur.  I have had success in a stamp box (some people call it a sweat box) with smaller stamps, but these are plate blocks.  My two questions are:   Could they be valuable?  and How do I separate them and not overly damage the mint gum on the back?

Unfortunately there is no solution for unsticking mint stamps that preserves the full value.  For rare plate blocks, a (larger) sweat box is best.  Better to have disturbed gum than a thin.  For common plate blocks, I'd say turn them into postage, because they will be easy to replace.
