Question
My wives grand niece has inherited a collection of Golden Replicas
of US Stamps approximately 1983-1991 including a stamp of the first day issue on each envelope with her fathers name and address.
does a collection such as this have any value?

Answer
Bernie,

Gold replicas of stamps were not issued by the post office, but rather by private companies seeking to profit from the hobby of stamp collecting.  They are not catalogued and their value is speculative in nature.  I've seen these combination stamp/replica covers sell for $1 to $5 each on ebay.com.
