Stamps (Philately)/Stamp Collection Sale & Single stamp question

My name is Leslie and thank you for answering my questions.
First, my sister and I have inherited a large stamp collection from my father that was passed down from his parents (and he added extensively to it). We are wondering how to exactly sell this collection because it is really big. Any thoughts on who we would contact to give us an estimate and/or a fair sale price? We just don't know how to sell it.
Also - I have a card with a first day of issue 1969 6 cent Chistmas stamp with a round mark from post office on it. Any idea where I could get a price on this?
Thank you very much,
Leslie D."

Leslie D,

It reads like you have a substantial collection to liquidate all at once, therefore you should seriously consider a public stamp auction, where both dealers and collectors bid for the same stamps.  This insures you get the maximum value for your holdings.  I recommend Harmer-Schau Auction Galleries.  Contact Chris Harmer or Kurt Schau at:

Phone: 800-378-6454

Regarding your 1969 Christmas first day of issue, an unaddressed cover postmarked on November 3rd is currently valued at $1.25.
