Stamps (Philately)/Stamp Collection - Good Project Assignment Work ?
1. Can Stamp Collection be considered as a good Project Assignment work for School Children ?
2. Do you feel if considered as a part of project assignment,
ages 11-13 would be the most appropriate ages for school children ?.
Stamp collection will add General Knowledge. So it will be useful if taken as part of a project work along with taken as a hobby.
Awaiting your reply,
Thanks & Regards,

Hi, I do believe this is a perfect age for young adults to start collecting stamps, this is about the time I started. There are several ways to help develop their interest. Through education they can be taught how stamps got started, the Stamp Act, early Postmaster Generals, and even the introduction of the Zip Code system to name a few. Another direction is to show them how they can collect stamps with the mail they receive at home, how to take stamps off the envelopes without damaging them, and how to properly mount them. You could get in contact with your local stamp club in the area and see if they can help you get a bulk of loose stamps for the kids to look through and start collecting. The kids can collect by their favorite topics such as, Presidents, sports, aerospace, famous people, statehoods, and foreign countries from their heritage. They could even write a paper on their favorite stamp or the hobby itself.
I hope I have helped you and if you need any additional help give me another question and I will try to follow up. If you let me know what state you live I will see if I can pass along a stamp club from your state.
