Other than Rectangle, Square, Diamond, Kite shapes can we construct postage stamps with other possible shapes viz Circular, Oval, Trapezoid, Pyramid etc ?.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

ANSWER: Dear Prashant ji,

Now a days, many countries to earn additional revenue from philatelists, are issuing stamps in all possible shapes but mostly such odd shaped stamps are self adhesive. Luckily India still hasn't come out out with any odd shaped issue. Good in one way. You may like to refer the following web site ( there must be many more such web sites, I routinely see the mentioned one) wherein stamps of many shapes, materials, scented and many more are listed.

QUESTION: Dear Bk

Thanks.

Can we have cone, cylinder, rhombus, parabola, hyperbola, ellipse
constructed postage stamps ?.

Thanks & Regards,
Prashant S Akerkar

Answer
Dear Prashant ji,
I feel cone or cylinder are 3 dimensional, such stamp may be difficult to make  but surely this shape can be out of sheet of stamps. I remember Austria or Finland issued a triangular stamp in sheet of 20 which could be folded to make a cone/pyramid. We do come across other shape of stamps. I will suggest you go through the web site mentioned earlier: rhombus, ellipse and many other shapes of stamps are shown.Parabolic or hyperbolic are somewhat just like part of moon & such shape stamps are existing. Best wishes..bkn
